WHEELING — Wheeling Symphony Orchestra announces the second fall concert of its chamber orchestra series, WesBanco presents “SoundBites: European Expedition,” conducted by John Devlin.

The concerts will take place at Oglebay Wilson Lodge Glessner Ballroom on Sunday, Oct. 11, with two performances: a 1:30 p.m. brunch and 6:30 p.m. dinner.

Each concert will feature a specialty cocktail and a three-course meal. Concerts will be limited in seating with social distancing rules in place.

The WSO flies over the Atlantic for its “European Expedition” to explore a series of arrangements by the British composer Iain Farrington. Farrington has spent years arranging masterpieces by other composers into versions that are playable by smaller orchestras of approximately 15 members. The orchestra will present favorites by composers such as Mozart, Grieg, Brahms, Debussy and Humperdinck.

The public is invited to join the Wheeling Symphony for an unforgettable tour of Europe.

“After the incredible experience for our orchestra and our audience at our debut concert for the SoundBites series, I am delighted that the second version is close upon us,” Music Director John Devlin said. “The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra will share some of my favorite European masterworks, with well-known favorites by Mozart, Brahms, Debussy and many others. Plus, the menu that Chef Thomas Raymond has designed complements the music in enticing ways, with cuisines from Norway, Germany and France.

“This concert will truly engage all five senses as once!”

Patrons will be treated to the following menu curated by Chef Raymond from Oglebay. Brunch includes a bagel and lox appetizer, an entree of hazelnut waffles with blackberry cream and German sausage, and a featured pote de creme dessert. Dinner includes a smoked salmon bruschetta with caviar garnish appetizer, an entree of beef roulade, herb spaetzli and braised brussels sprouts, plus a featured pote de creme dessert. Both menus include a specialty cocktail to start the evening.
