Lesser Known Legends Of Wheeling: Marion Theresa Moses

WHEELING — The next Lunch With Books livestream program at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 26, presented by the Ohio County Public Library will offer “Archiving Wheeling Presents: Lesser Known Legends of Wheeling, Part 2: Marion Theresa Moses.”

Linda Comins will share her research on Wheeling-born Dr. Moses (Jan. 24, 1936), trusted confidant to farm workers’ union leader Cesar Chavez, who helped organize the national grape boycott of the 1960s. From 1977 to 1980, Moses was a medical resident at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, where her work led her to befriend Catholic activist and philosopher Dorothy Day, feminist Gloria Steinem, and an array of social activists and celebrities.
