Washington’s Land Is Moundsville Library’s Next Book-Talk Topic

MOUNDSVILLE — Local author and educator Susan R. Jones will have a virtual presentation about her book “Washington’s Land and Round Bottom” for the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7, on Zoom or Facebook.

The book talk is free, and no registration is required. Copies of the book may be purchased through the library, and there will soon be a copy at each Marshall County branch available for borrowing.

In “Washington’s Land and Round Bottom,” Jones shares her research into this local region, from the earliest history involving the Adena people to George Washington surveying the area, through to the 20th century and special emphasis on the background of the area’s churches and schools to the present day. Many people, places and events that have made this Marshall County community memorable to current and former residents are mentioned in Jones’ book.

Jones is the author of several books, including “Bill Stewart: In His Own Words” and “The History of John Marshall High School.” She is also a songwriter, private music teacher, and a school teacher at Glen Dale’s John Marshall High School.
