Heinz History Center Curator Featured At Virtual LWB Program

WHEELING — Emily Ruby, curator at the Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, will deliver this week’s Lunch With Books Livestream program online via the Ohio County Public Library’s official social media pages.

The program will take place at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 7, live streaming on the library’s Facebook and YouTube pages.

Ruby’s book, “57 Servings,” is a colorful retelling of early Heinz company history — in 57 short chapters — using the Heinz History Center’s vast collection of images and artifacts.

The book was the winner of a 2019 American Graphic Design Award from Graphic Design USA.

As curator at the Senator John Heinz History Center, Ruby oversaw research and interpretation for the new Heinz exhibit. She has authored numerous articles in material culture for the History Center’s journal, Western Pennsylvania History, and lectures frequently on the subjects of food and culture.
