WHEELING — Just in time for the holiday season, Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre presents the timeless Christmas classic “The Gift of the Magi.”

This family-friendly show will be staged for two weekends — today through Sunday, Dec. 3-5, and next weekend, Dec. 10-11.

Based on the short story by O. Henry, this popular show is family-friendly and will kindle the holiday spirit in all ages.

It follows a young couple, Della and Jim, as they struggle with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with barely enough money to afford their one-room apartment.

When a strange twist of fate leads the couple to find the perfect gifts for one another at an unexpected cost, they learn the true meaning of the holiday.

The production is directed by P.D. Gregg. Cast members are Noah Hilton, Karissa Martin, Brendan Sheehan, Sarah Hamilton, Eva Mick, Justin Swoyer, Juan Dunlap, Savanah Springer and Maria McKelvey.

Curtain is at 7 p.m. on Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5.

For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.oionline.com or call 304-242-7700.

Tickets can also be purchased at the door, if available. Box office opens one hour prior to curtain.
