Auditions Set For ‘Addams Family’ Musical At the Strand
MOUNDSVILLE — The Strand Theatre announces auditions for its summer musical, “The Addams Family.”
“The Addams Family,” a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family — a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
“The Addams Family” will run at 7 p.m. on July 29 and 30 and at 2 p.m. July 31.
Shelby Garrett will direct the show, JustinJones will serve as music director, Anna Harsh will choreograph, and Meta Lasch will serve as technical director.
Auditions are at 6 p.m. Monday, May 30, and Tuesday, May 31, at the theatre.
Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song from either a musical or an upbeat pop song.
An accompanist will be provided. Auditions will also consist of cold reads from the script as well and a dance combo, so wear comfortable shoes you can move in. If necessary, callbacks will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1.
Audition ages are high school students through adults. Auditionees are encouraged to listen to the original cast recording for inspiration.
Rehearsals will begin the week of June 13 and run Monday through Thursday evenings for approximately two to three hours per rehearsal. A complete schedule will be created following auditions and distributed at the first rehearsal.
