Gin Blossoms

WHEELING — Oglebay’s first Backyard BBQ Festival presented by The Glessner Group takes place this weekend at Oglebay’s Levenson Shelter.

The festival from today, Friday, May 27, and Saturday, May 28, is open to the public and includes live music, barbecue demonstrations, kids’ activities and more.

Add to your experience with bourbon-tasting, food trucks and a variety of beer to make a day of it.

Featured entertainment for the weekend includes a ticketed concert by the Gin Blossoms with special guests The Clarks on Saturday night.

The show will take place in a designated concert area at Camp Russell.

Aside from the ticketed headlining shows, other great entertainment will take place for free on multiple stages throughout the weekend.

At 5 p.m. today, Friday, May 27, the festival opens with barbeque vendors, food trucks and live music, along with the BBQ demonstrations and Little Piggies Fun Zone for kids. Musical duo Drake & Volhl will kick things off at 5 p.m., and Jukebox will perform from 7-10 p.m.

On Saturday, the festival opens at 11 a.m. with bourbon tasting and more, with a series of BBQ schools taking place throughout the day focusing on ways to master the art of barbecuing pork, poultry and beef, and making the best sauce and rubs.

The Muddle will perform beginning at noon on Saturday, followed by a Backyard magic show at 2:30 p.m. and Punching Oswald at 3:30 p.m.

Main concert area gates open at 5:30 p.m. to those who have purchased tickets. The Clarks will take the stage at 7:30 p.m., and the Gin Blossoms will perform at 9 p.m., with a fireworks show to cap off the night
