WHEELING — Great cinema returns to the big screen at Towngate Theatre tonight.

A riveting legal drama, “A Few Good Men” follows the court-martial of two U.S. Marines charged with the murder of a fellow Marine.

A brash Navy lawyer, a gung-ho litigator and a fanatical Guantanamo Bay Colonel are confronted with complex issues of loyalty and honor — including its most sacred code.

The A-list ensemble cast includes Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Pollak, J.T. Walsh, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Kiefer Sutherland.

Written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Rob Reiner, “A Few Good Men” was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

In the closing act of the film, Nicholson gives a masterful performance during a courtroom tirade in which he delivers the iconic, oft-quoted line, “You can’t handle the truth!”

“A Few Good Men” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 13. Admission to the film is $8, and no reservations are required.
