WELLSBURG — Brooke Hills Playhouse continues its second production of its 52nd season with “Pinocchio,” written by John Morley.

This production is made possible in conjunction with Concord Theatricals of New York and will run for a second weekend with performances June 23-25. Municipal Mutual Insurance Company and Reasner Funeral Home are season sponsors.

“Pinocchio,” adapted from a novel by C. Collidi, chronicles the adventures of a wooden puppet whose lonely maker, Geppetto, wishes were a real boy. A fairy grants his wish by bringing Pinocchio to life, but she tells Pinocchio he must prove his worth before she will make him into a human boy. Under the guidance of his insect friend, Mr. Cricket, Pinocchio experiences a series of incredible adventures on his way to becoming a real boy. He is deterred from deceit in his new life by his nose, which grows longer every time he tells a lie.

“I want our audiences to understand that this particular show is not a Disney show but one based on a Collidi novel,” director Julia Barnhart of Wellsburg noted. “There are similarities, but there are also some things that may be new. What’s wonderful is how amazing our young actors have taken to the script and how well they are doing. I would like to thank SJ Construction and Handyman Services for sponsoring this show.”
