Strand Hosts New Missoula Theatre Workshop
MOUNDSVILLE — The Strand Theatre will welcome the Missoula Children’s Theatre back to the this Monday through Saturday, June 19-24, for an intergenerational program.
This is a free acting workshop that is new this year, and will include participants age 55 and up.
During the week, participants will be immersed in many aspects related to the production of a live stage show, which will culminate with two public performances.
Those interested should pre-register online www.strandtheatrewv.com/eventsand report to the Strand Theatre on Monday, June 19. Auditions will be held for the production of “King Arthur’s Quest” from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 19.
Students who have completed kindergarten through rising 12th graders and seniors age 55 and up are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary.
Those auditioning should arrive at 9:30 a.m. and plan to stay until noon. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition. There is no cost to participate, but several additional enrichment workshops will be offered throughout the week after daily rehearsals conclude.
These workshops will immerse students in more specific theatrical skills. The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT Tour actor/directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. each day. “King Arthur’s Quest” will be presented on Saturday, June 24, at the Strand Theatre. The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency is presented by the Strand Theatre with support from the Evan G. Roberts Fund.
