Second Person Dies of COVID-19 in Ohio County
WHEELING — A second person has died of COVID-19 in Ohio County, health officials announced Saturday.
The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department did not identify the victim, but said the person had been hospitalized at the time of death.
It’s the first coronavirus fatality in the county since April 13, when a 69-year-old man died of the COVID-19 disease.
But Ohio County has seen a surge of new coronavirus cases over the past three weeks as the number of cases has more than doubled. The county has reported 29 new cases over the past three days, bringing the total number to 135 since the pandemic began.
