Beallsville High Students Touring Monroe, River
From Staff Reports
Fifty-six students from Beallsville High School were given the opportunity to tour Monroe Central High School and have lunch there and then on to visit River High this week, according to a report given Monday during the Monroe County Commissioners meeting.
Switzerland of Ohio School District Superintendent John Hall gave an update on district activities. He had attended a previous meeting of the commissioners, and it was decided that he would provide updates periodically during their sessions.
Also in reference to Beallsville High, which is scheduled to close after this school year, Hall said school officials would be able to increase academic opportunities in the other three schools – Monroe Central, River and the Swiss Hills Career Center – by using the 9-12 teachers from Beallsville.
In other matters, a Monroe County Emergency Management Agency employee was granted a promotion, effective July 1. Phil Keevert, EMA director, attended the meeting and commissioners approved a motion for Jeremy Keylor, an EMA assistant, to become deputy director in July.
Reports were given by Andrea Cullinan, administrator at the Monroe County Care Center, about center activities and by Greg Johnson, who reported on center finances.
An executive session, lasting nearly an hour, was held in regard to confidentiality by commissioners with the two center officials.
