Dance Students Earn Division 1 College Spots
As LDT Dance Centre celebrates 30 years of excellence this year, it also bids farewell to their two beloved senior dancers, Gianna Swan and Caton Kadylak.
Following in the footsteps of their former LDT teammates Sarah Zink, Annie Fox and Ashley Visnic, both girls have earned spots on Division 1 college dance teams.
Zink, a recent OSU graduate, was a four-year member of The Ohio State Dance Team. Last season, Zink and her teammates made OSU history when they earned a double national championship in both jazz and pom.
After a rigorous auditioning process, Swan will join the OSU Dance Team as a freshman this fall.
West Virginia University sophomores Fox and Visnic are entering their second season as members of the WVU Dance Team.
Earlier this year, they helped their team secure a spot in the top 10 at Daytona Beach’s NDA National Finals.
Kadylak recently earned a spot on the 2018-2019 team alongside Fox and Visnic.
All five of these young ladies were 10-plus-year members of LDT Dance Centre.
Stacy Coughlan, owner and artistic director, credits her dancers’ success on the strong foundation her studio provides its students.
“As teachers and mentors, we first instill a love and respect for the art of dance,” she said. “We then begin to focus on training our students to be technically strong, to be self-motivated, and to always strive to be the best versions of themselves. I truly believe we have given our graduates the tools they need to thrive. It makes us so proud knowing we had the opportunity to watch them become strong adults with a love for the art of dance.”
Coughlan states that a big part of LDT’s mission is to raise strong, individual dancers who understand the importance and power of teamwork.
With this mindset, Coughlan and her staff agree that their dancers will be assets to both the OSU and WVU teams next season.
