Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park Plans Day of Service
The Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park Foundation Inc. will hold its annual day of service at 1 p.m. Monday at Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church, 1340 Washington Pike.
After, a flag-raising and pledge of allegiance will be led by Gabe Arlia and the Tri State Young Marines. The National Anthem will be sung by Brooke High School students Lilli Del Guzzi, Lauren Giles, Meile Morris and Alex Murdock under the direction of Celesta Byard. The Rev. Dr. Tamara Nichols Rodenberg, president of Bethany College, will be the keynote speaker.
During the military ceremony, Donna Taibi Sullivan will give a reading and the Ohio Valley Memorial Squad will present a military wreath with “Taps” and a 21-gun salute. The group will recognizesthe Clark and Iafrate families for the 2018 Brooke County Distinguished Families of Service.
There will also be a presentation of plaques to Jim Brockman, curator of the National American Defenders of Bataan & Corrigegidor Museum, Education & Research Center from James Kolb, president of Wellsburg Lions Club. The presentation of certificates in glass will be made to members of the Clark and Iafrate families by Lisa Chiodo.
