Man Faces Sexual Abuse Charges

A Glen Dale man faces sexual abuse charges after allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl who was staying at his house.

In October, police spoke with the alleged victim, who said Robert Osborne, 41, had allegedly touched her inappropriately while she was staying at the home around the time school started in August.

The child said she allegedly had been woken up around 8 a.m. because Osborne’s hand was down the front of her shirt while she was sleeping on the couch.

Osborne then allegedly moved on to do the same to another child present.

The child said she thought Osborne assumed she was sleeping, and said that she disliked the feel of his hands, which she described as rough.

She said Osborne covered her with a blanket before pulling his phone out.

Police spoke to Osborne on Oct. 30.

He allegedly admitted to touching the girl as she had described, and said that he “might have taken one” photo after the fact with his phone.

Osborne was arrested Nov. 7 and charged with first degree sexual abuse, a felony, and paid $10,000 bond to be released from the Northern Regional Jail.

In an unrelated mater, John McNicholas, 43, of Weirton, was charged officials allegedly found heroin on his person upon his intake to the Northern Regional Jail.

McNicholas allegedly told officers that he thought the bags containing the drug were trash from inside his cell, which he pocketed.

During a search, officials also allegedly found a gum wrapper containing cocaine in his sock, which he denied knowing about.

McNicholas remains lodged in lieu of $10,000 bond, in addition to charges from his unrelated arrest that landed him in jail in the first place. He faces felony charges of transporting a controlled substance into a state correctional facility.
