Three Charged in Domino’s Robbery
Three people are behind bars after being arrested in connection with a robbery at a Wheeling Domino’s.
Wheeling Police responded Nov. 20 to a robbery at the Jacob Street restaurant. At the scene, the clerk said a woman and two men had entered the store.
The the woman allegedly shoved a knife to the clerk’s throat and demanded money. The clerk said she was on the phone with a customer at the time, and had screamed for the customer to call the police, which prompted one of the men allegedly to rip the phone out of the wall. The woman sustained minor injuries to her face and hands.
Outside the restaurant, police located two people that matched the description the clerk gave: Devin Howell, 28, and William Ruckman, 47, both of Wheeling. Ruckman allegedly told officers that he went to the Domino’s with Howell and another man. He allegedly told police he stood by the door until the struggle, when he decided to run away. Ruckman then told police he was wearing a black shirt, which was located nearby.
Once Howell was taken into custody, she allegedly admitted that she was the woman involved in the robbery, and subsequently gave the money she allegedly had taken to police.
The third man was identified as John Herring, 24, of Wheeling, who is Howell’s fiance. He was arrested at a later date.
All three are charged with felony robbery and remain in Northern Regional Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. Preliminary hearings for each are to be held during this week.
