Business closed for two months during winter

A mainstay of Moundsville’s downtown known as a quilting hub in West Virginia is back in business after it closed for two months this winter.

Theresa’s Fabrics, 264 Jefferson Ave., reopened last week after it shut down to remodel part of its building.

“It’s amazing to be reopened,” said Amanda Gouldsberry, the business’ owner.

The business also closed after the previous owner and namesake, Theresa Gouldsberry, passed away.

“My grandmother was very sick in the process,” Gouldsberry said. “We kind of closed because of her.”

Now, Gouldsberry has taken the reins of the business, which has operated at its location in downtown Moundsville for about 33 years.

The store offers a variety of fabrics, full-service quilting and classes for beginners and advanced quilters.

“We’re one of the largest fabric stores in the state,” Gouldsberry said. “We have customers that come from all over the country. We’ve even had some from Australia and one from New Zealand.”

In the short time that the shop has been open again, business has been good, she said.

“We’ve done a ton of business,” Gouldsberry said. “All of our customers have extremely missed us, we’ve learned.”
