DECK BEING REMOVED FROM CHAPEL ROAD BRIDGE

Evening lane closures are expected to be intermittent on Interstate 470 between Elm Grove and W.Va. 2 over the coming weeks as Kokosing Construction Company crews continue removing the concrete deck and performing steel work on the Chapel Road Bridge in Bethlehem. Large sections of concrete are currently stacked on one side of the bridge until crews can crush them up and haul away the debris. The 47-year-old bridge, which spans about 100 feet above I-470, is scheduled to be closed to traffic through the end of the summer as the project continues, according DOH officials. The detour route is West Bethlehem Boulevard and the nearby Spruce Street Bridge.
