East Ohio Regional Hospital Receives National Patient Safety Award
East Ohio Regional Hospital has received a Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades, an internationally recognized organization promoting safety though the health care industry.
The award recognizes hospitals that offer safer quality care for patients through excellent performance in safeguarding patients from serious, potentially preventable complications during their hospital stay.
“EORH has made quality and patient safety a priority, and engaged everyone to create a safer environment and provide a higher level of quality care to our patients,” said Mallik Yenigella, director of quality and risk services for the hospital. “We are a community hospital, our patients are our friends and neighbors, so patient outcomes matter to us on a personal level.”
Hospitals are chosen based on inpatient data from Medicare Provider Analysis and Review database, as well as software from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
This award is given only to hospitals in the top 10 percent in the nation for patient safety. East Ohio Regional Hospital is the only hospital in the Ohio Valley to receive this award.
“Patient safety and quality continues to be the focal point of every interaction we have with our patients,” CEO Dan Dunmyer said. “We are ecstatic to be recognized for providing exceptional care.”
