Activists Hold Rally in Moundsville

Dozens of activists gather in Moundsville Friday to oppose potential petrochemical projects along the Ohio River. The gathering was in accordance with similar events planned in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. The event began with an educational session on the history of the Adena Indians at the Grave Creek Mound and moved to the Riverfront Park in Moundsville for an interfaith prayer ceremony and drum circle. The park is directly across from the river from the proposed PTTGC-Daelim ethane cracker plant for Belmont County. Representatives from various faith backgrounds spoke during the event. Bev Reed of Bridgeport is pictured speaking to the group at the base of the Grave Creek Mound.
