I-470 eastbound Friday closure announced

The West Virginia Division of Highways announced that Interstate 470 eastbound will be closed and I-470 westbound will be reduced to one lane from exit 5 to exit 2 from 6 p.m. today until 6 a.m. Friday.

The onramp to I-470 eastbound from the US 250/W.Va. 2 interchange will also be closed to allow Kokosing Construction Company to continue the deck replacement project on the Chapel Road Bridge which stretches over I-470 in Bethlehem.

Detours will be posted and motorists are advised to be alert for changing traffic patterns and expect delays. Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule. Crews with Kokosing Construction Company are pictured earlier this week working at both ends of the 47-year-old bridge.

The structure is scheduled to be closed to traffic through the end of the summer as the project continues, according DOH officials.
