Police Looking for Victims Following Child Porn Conviction

Duncan

A month following the conviction of Carlos Duncan on child porn charges, Marshall County investigators are searching for victims of sexual abuse.

Investigator Bryan Gaus of the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office said he was contacted by an adult woman just before Duncan’s trial, who advised that she had been sexually abused by Duncan as a child.

The woman told investigators that Duncan had also abused numerous other children throughout the state, but that none of them were willing to come forth until his imprisonment.

Gaus said that Duncan’s text message records indicate that he had sexual intercourse with an eight-year-old girl, which was brought up at his sentencing hearing last week before Circuit Judge David Hummel.

Hummel sentenced Duncan, 50, of Clay County, to the maximum sentence of three years in prison and 50 years of supervised release.

Duncan was found guilty at trial last month of one count of felony possession of child pornography and one count of misdemeanor possession of child erotica.

Gaus is asking that anyone with knowledge of any other victims of Duncan to contact the prosecutor’s office at 304-845-4100, or the West Virginia State Police at 304-843-4100.

“I think we’re going to be able to build something pretty huge,” Gaus said Tuesday.

“Just since he’s been sentenced, we’ve spoken to a couple girls, and there might be many, many others out there in different areas of the state.”
