‘Tech Rabbi’ to Help Ohio County Schools

WHEELING — The Ohio County Schools annual opening session will begin with a very special guest.

Michael Cohen, “The Tech Rabbi,” will be the event’s keynote speaker at 8 a.m. on Aug. 12 at the Wheeling Park High School J.B. Chambers Performing Arts Center. The highly-regarded author will address the school system’s teachers and administrators during the official start of the 2019-2020 school year. Cohen also will give a community presentation at 4 p.m. that is open to the public.

Cohen is a designer, educator and creativity instigator. His mission is to help educators around the world reveal their own creative abilities so they can empower students to solve interesting problems and become positive contributors to our global society. He is the author of the book Educated By Design, which outlines his principles for revealing and nurturing our innate creative courage and capacity.

He is a national keynote speaker, advisor and trainer. When he isn’t traveling the world sharing his message, he serves as the director of innovation for Yeshiva University of Los Angeles Boys School, where he manages and teaches at the Schlesinger STEAM and Entrepreneurship Center.

Warwood School teacher Mark Lindsay said he is excited to have such an esteemed speaker on hand to welcome teachers back for the start of the new school year. He said Cohen’s work has influenced his own work in the classroom.

“Educated by Design helped me to challenge my students and myself to apply knowledge and content in a creative way,” Lindsay said.

Cohen has accumulated an impressive list of credentials. He’s been named as a Top 50 EdTech Influencer and a Google Certified Trainer. Cohen has also been named as an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Book Creator Ambassador and an Adobe Education Trainer.
