OVConnect Becomes Generation Wheeling
WHEELING – OVConnect, a local organization dedicated to attracting, retaining and advancing young talent in the Upper Ohio Valley, has partnered with Generation West Virginia to become the area’s local Generation affiliate.
Now officially operating as Generation Wheeling (Gen WHG), the organization will continue to provide opportunities for young people to work, live and give in their community with GWV’s support.
The organization will have a kick-off party on Nov. 13. The “Friendsgiving” themed event will be held at River City restaurant from 6 to 8 p.m., and anyone interested in learning more about Gen WHG and how to get involved is invited to attend.
GWV’s local Generations serve as hubs of connection, engagement, and development led by and for young people. Across the state, young leaders self-organize in local Generations that make up an activated network of young people who are eager to step up in their communities.
Gen WHG will host events and programs around their motto #WorkLiveGive – connecting people with the good work they need to stay, helping make their community the kind of place where people want to live, and creating more ways to give back, because people stay in places where they feel connected.
“The decision to become a local Generation with GWV is an exciting way for us to reach more young people in Wheeling and throughout the Northern Panhandle,” said Alex Panas, OVConnect President. “This partnership provides us with a wider network of support from across the state, which means more engaging and consistent opportunities for our community.”
Attendees of the Gen WHG “Friendsgiving” event on Nov. 13 are asked to bring canned goods or make a monetary donation that will benefit local families in need through The United Way.
Guests can also enjoy live music by Logan Wojcik and a special fall-themed drink.
