Spruce Street Bridge Work Continues
The concrete deck of Spruce Street Bridge in Bethlehem has been removed as the span is scheduled to be closed to traffic through Feb. 1 as part of refurbishing the structure.
In addition to replacing the concrete deck, crews with Kokosing Construction Company of Westerville, Ohio are scheduled to paint and make some repairs to the steel frame of the structure.
The project is being expedited to avoid any Interstate 470 lane closure conflicts once the I-70 Bridges Project gets into full swing early next year, according to officials with West Virginia Division of Highways.
Motorists are advised to use the nearby and recently refurbished Chapel Road Bridge and follow posted detour routes.
