Mitigation Work on West Virginia Welcome Center

Crews with the Hughes Corporation of Sycamore, Pa., continue with mitigation work on the West Virginia Welcome Center in an effort to reduce the possibility of structure damage to the building as a result of any ground subsidence that may occur from longwall mining scheduled by the Tunnel Ridge Coal Company. Crews have begun to cut the building into three segments as part of the mitigation work which is expected to continue through mid-June. Road crews also continue to monitor Interstate 70 near the center as the longwall mining moves through in the coming weeks.
