Spruced Up And Almost Ready: Construction on Spruce Street Bridge in Bethlehem Almost Completed
Crews with Kokosing Construction Co. of Westerville, Ohio, are shown working on the Spruce Street Bridge in Bethlehem on Monday. The bridge, which spans over Interstate 470 and closed to traffic in October, is expected to reopen to motorists in July as crews work to complete construction on one of the bridge’s approaches and its side barriers over the next few weeks. While crews hoped to have the work done earlier this year, the overall project was delayed due to inclement weather and the COVID-19 crisis, according to an official with the West Virginia Division of Highways. The Spruce Street Bridge project is part of a $6.1 million plan to re-deck the span and the Chapel Road Bridge, which was re-decked last year.
