Wheeling Man Charged With Sex Abuse
WHEELING — A man faces multiple charges of incest, along with a charge of sexual abuse, after allegedly having sexual contact with a juvenile female and posting video evidence on a pornographic website.
In September, Wheeling police spoke with a young woman who said that an explicit video of her had been posted to an adult website. The woman told police that a friend alerted her that the video had been posted, which depicts her engaging in sexual acts when she was 17 years old, with what she initially told police was her boyfriend.
Police were able to locate the video and suspected that the man seen in the footage was Zebadiah Groves Sr., 37, of Wheeling. The following week, the woman again came to police to report that Groves had violated a domestic violence petition she had against him. At that time, she disclosed to police that the man allegedly seen in the video was, in fact, Groves.
The woman told police that Groves sexually abused her from between February 2018 to May 2020.
A search warrant executed on Groves’ residence allegedly turned up a cell phone, the SD card of which was said to have several videos depicting the same sexual encounter that was uploaded to the internet. One video allegedly shows the man’s right arm, which shows the same tattoo that Groves has.
Groves was arrested in February and charged with three counts of incest and one count of sexual abuse. He remains lodged at the Northern Regional Jail in lieu of four instances of $50,000 bond.
