Ohio Valley Rib and Chicken Cook-Off Returns to Wheeling June 25-26
WHEELING — Now in its 12th year, the Ohio Valley Rib and Chicken Cook-off is set to return after last year’s hiatus, ready to make Heritage Port taste delicious next month.
The cook-off will begin at noon on June 25 and 26, with numerous vendors of both ribs and chicken, music, cornhole and comedy, according to organizer Tonya Woody. Woody hopes turnout will be high for the cook-off, as people coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic take advantage of the event.
“There’s something for everybody,” Woody said Friday. “We’re happy about the actual festival this year, because due to everything that’s been going on, people have been inside, they’re ready to get outside. We want everybody to come down, enjoy themselves, get something to eat, enjoy the entertainment.”
As of Friday, five rib vendors are scheduled to come, as well as numerous other assorted vendors such as funnel cakes, sandwiches, craft vendors and merchandise. Admission to the event is free.
Cooks will compete for the title of Best Ribs and Best Chicken. Those interested in getting involved should contact Woody at 304-218-7800 or Butch Brooks at 740-695-3639.
