The Miracle League of the Ohio Valley is making plans to hold its first motorcycle ride and car show fundraiser Sept. 18. at The Highlands.

The fundraiser will help continue funding Miracle League events for special needs children and adults throughout the year, according to Lorraine McCardle, president of the Miracle League of the Ohio Valley. It also will fund ongoing operations and maintenance for the field, which is located at the J.B. Chambers Sports Complex.

The motorcycle ride is scheduled to start at Valley Harley Davidson at The Highlands, with registration set to begin at 10 a.m., with kick-stands up at 11 a.m. The ride is scheduled to make a stop at the Miracle Field during the second of two ball games that day, before continuing down W.Va. 2 to New Martinsville and crossing over to Ohio 7 to return back to the Wheeling area.

The ride will conclude at Quaker Steak and Lube, with a car show scheduled to follow at 2 p.m., and a band scheduled to perform at 6 p.m. at Quaker Steak and Lube.

The concert is scheduled to be outside, weather permitting, and there is an entry fee for the car show.

The restaurant will host a “DINE to Donate” event from 4-10 p.m. that day, where 20% of proceeds from food sales during that time will be donated to The Miracle League.

An auction and 50/50 drawing will also be held during the event to raise funds for the local Miracle League organization, which is sponsored by the J.B. Chambers YMCA. One of the auction items is a two-day pass for two at The Greenbrier Resort at White Sulphur Springs.

McCardle said she is very grateful to all of the sponsors and those who support the fundraiser event.

“This organization is near and dear to my heart and the opportunities it provides for the special needs population,” McCardle explained. “I am so thankful to live in a place like the Ohio Valley. … We come together, we support each other, and that is what is so special about the Ohio Valley.”

Monetary donations can be sent to: Miracle League of the Ohio Valley/YMCA, 55 Lounez Avenue, Wheeling, W.Va., 26003. For more information call 304-281-3054.
