Holiday Events, Including ‘Ladies’ Night,’ Coming to Centre Market in Wheeling
WHEELING — “Ladies’ Night” is coming to Wheeling’s Centre Market, and the “feeling’s right” this holiday season.
The event is set for 5-8 p.m. Dec. 15, with most Centre Market businesses and restaurants participating. And it should be a night that’s special everywhere in the neighborhood.
“Pre-pandemic, Ladies’ Night was an event we held at Centre Market a couple times a year,” explained Amy Cordy, owner of VC Wares. “Several of the area businesses wanted to offer one this holiday season. It’s a fun evening where our community has the opportunity to gather and shop with our local businesses during the evening and do some last minute shopping, or just simply enjoy spending some time together while out visiting all the good stuff Centre Market has to offer.”
Food and shopping opportunities will be available to shoppers during the evening hours, and there will be music provided by local musician Robert Gaudio.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, business owners have had to get creative with how they market their goods and services.
“We spent the initial shutdown back in March of 2020 extremely busy and out on our porch delivering to our loyal customers who shopped with us via our website,” Cordy said. “Once we reopened that summer, we made sure that our customers had options to shop in a caring, positive, and safe environment. We also continue to offer curbside pickup for those that prefer it.”
Other businesses indicated they are looking forward to the event.
“I’m very excited,” said Corey Manning, owner of the Casa di Vino wine shop. “Anytime in the past when we’ve had these events they’ve been earlier in the year, and I think this will be good having this during the holiday season.”
Manning said his business wasn’t adversely affected by the pandemic. But as shoppers returned to Centre Market, he saw among them a lot of potential new customers.
The Wheeling Symphony Auxiliary and The Smart Center also are teaming up for a children’s concert to provide youthful sounds for Christmas.
The children’s concert is set for noon to 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 at Artworks Around Town. In addition to the music, there will be crafts and a special treat at the store.
