Mt. Olivet Lions Club Hosting ‘Flags for Heroes’ Event Sunday
The Mt. Olivet Lions Club will celebrate Memorial Day a little early, hosting a “Flags For Heroes” celebration at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Olivet Community Park.
During the event, the Lions Club will dedicate two bronze plaques – one to honor Purple Heart recipients and another to honor Gold Star families. The plaques have been placed on the existing Veterans Memorial, which was dedicated in November.
Marshall County Commissioner John Gruzinskas will be Sunday’s guest speaker. The Our Lady of Peace Chorus will provide patriotic music and songs. The names of all flag heroes and their sponsorships will be recognized and the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard will provide a 21-gun salute and the playing of “Taps.”
All are welcome to attend. Event coordinators ask attendees to bring lawn chairs for seating near the monument.
