New Principal Sought for Oak Glen Middle School
Hancock County Schools is looking for a new principal to lead Oak Glen Middle School.
A job listing has been posted on the Hancock County Schools website, indicating a search has begun for a new head principal at Oak Glen Middle, with applications accepted through 4 p.m., Aug. 23. The posting indicates the job is “pending resignation approval.”
The position of head principal at Oak Glen Middle most recently has been held by Alyssa Mick, Ph.D., with the posting coming a couple of days after a tentative resolution had been reached in a grievance filed by Mick against the county school board concerning the director of personnel post.
The resolution was announced during a special meeting Monday, with neither board officials nor Mick’s legal counsel discussing details of the agreement.
When asked Wednesday evening, Superintendent Dawn Petrovich said she was unable to comment on the job posting at this time.
According to the job posting, qualifications for the position include “possession of a Master’s Degree in Education, as well as appropriate valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate, and either possess or be eligible for a West Virginia Elementary Principal Certificate.” Qualifications also include “A total of three years of progressively responsible professional experience in teaching in an approved elementary of middle school.”
Neither a resignation or hiring for the position were discussed at a special meeting held at Weir High School Wednesday, nor are they currently listed on the agenda for the next regular school board meeting.
