Interfaith Thanksgiving Service Planned Wednesday at Temple Shalom

WHEELING – People of all faiths in the Ohio Valley are invited to Temple Shalom on Wednesday to join together in thanks and prayer.

The temple will host the annual Community-Wide Interfaith Thanksgiving Service this year. The service will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods or non-perishable food items which will be collected and donated to feed the hungry here in the community.

Several of the community’s faith leaders have been confirmed to help lead the service – Rabbi Joshua Lief of Temple Shalom; the Most. Rev. Mark Brennan, Bishop of the Wheeling-Charleston Diocese; the Rev. Erica Harley of Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church; the Rev. Ken Hardway of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ; and Suff. Bishop Darrell Cummings of Bethlehem Apostolic Temple.

“At this time of deep political division and economic uncertainty, it is even more important for us to join together with our neighbors of all faiths to appreciate our many blessings,” the announcement stated. “As Psalm 118 reminds us, ‘It is good to give thanks …’ It is good, as a community, to express our appreciation to each other and to God, and good for our own spirits to realize how blessed we truly are.

All are welcome, and refreshments will follow the service. For more information, call Temple Shalom at 304-233-4870.
