Faith in Action Caregivers Inc. has announced that its executive director, Yvonne Verno, will retire effective May 29, 2026. Verno has led the nonprofit organization since 2016.

“It has been an honor to provide support for the many individuals in need in our communities,” she said. “The relationships I have been able to build with our care receivers, volunteers and our community will always be in my heart.

“To the Board of Directors, thank you for entrusting this incredible agency in my hands and heart. Faith in Action will continue to be a unique and needed agency in the Ohio Valley which will continue to support and serve those in need in our communities,” she added.

A detailed succession plan and timeline was approved by the Board of Directors in April of this year. A formal executive search process will begin in January.

“For almost 10 years, Yvonne has been an instrumental figure in the success of Faith in Action Caregivers, Inc.,” Faith In Action Board President Carol Obermann said. “Her tireless dedication to Faith in Action’s mission has resulted in a streamlining of administration, a strengthening of our financial position, and the enriching of the lives of volunteers and care receivers alike. Her leadership, vision, and commitment have been invaluable, and she will be greatly missed. We wish Yvonne the very best in her retirement.”

“We are so grateful that Yvonne began having these conversations with us over a year ago,” said the Rev. Kenneth Hardway, who chairs the transition team. “This has given us invaluable time to prepare our organization for the future.

“The board has been fully engaged in ensuring that we are in the best possible place to say ‘thanks and farewell’ to Yvonne and to welcome our new executive director into success,” he added.

“We’ve got a talented Search Team in place,” said search team chair Roanne Burech. “We’re very excited to discover who it is that God is calling to serve as our next leader.”
