Can You Dig It? Crews Continue Work at WVNCC Lot in Wheeling

WHEELING – Construction crews continue with work this week that includes the removal of underground tanks on a parking lot located at the corner of 16th and Main streets in downtown Wheeling near the West Virginia Northern Community College’s Applied Technology Center building.

The lot sat unused for more than 18 months as a result of foundation issues that were causing the parking lot ground to sink. The property, which was last used by WVNCC, is owned by the Ohio County Development Authority.

County officials acknowledged it is the responsibility of the county to make any necessary repairs which is expected to last several weeks, and the project is expected to cost between $35,000 to $50,000.

Once the project is completed the lot will be turned back over to WVNCC, who will complete the landscaping and paving for a parking lot for the college.
