I-70 Crash Thursday Near Dallas Pike Kills 1

A crash on Interstate 70 westbound near Dallas Pike on Thursday night killed one person, injured several others and closed both lanes of traffic there for several hours.

Ohio County Sheriff Tom Howard said that, at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, a tractor trailer was stopped on westbound I-70 between exits 11 and 12, near Silgan Plastics. A car was behind that tractor trailer, and a pickup truck struck the back of the car, sending it into the back of the tractor trailer.

One person in the car was killed and the rest of the car’s passengers were taken to the hospital, as was the driver of the truck, Howard said. The roof of the car had to be cut off in order to extract the passengers. I-70 westbound would remain closed for hours as sheriff’s deputies investigated the crash. Westbound traffic was being diverted at Claysville and West Alexander in Pennsylvania.

The name of the person killed was not released Thursday night, as next of kin had not yet been notified.
