WHEELING – A family turned out to run and walk the Twin Pops 5K Run/Walk for Health presented by Ziegenfelder Saturday morning, hoping to build character and forge strong family memories as the first of many to come.

“We decided that it was something we hadn’t done together as a family,” said Dante Lawrence. “It feels good to have something like this to build memories.”

Dante Lawrence was running the 5K with Dominic and Mila Lawrence, while Kelly Pontario would be walking the same. The family said they were newcomers to the running scene, but that Pontario had done a color run in Pittsburgh.

“We’re all into fitness and working out,” Pontario said.

Dante Lawrence added that he hopes the Twin Pops 5K will be the first in a string of memorable family bonding moments.

“We’re starting to (do family activities),” he said. “Even though the weather’s so-so, it’ll still be fun.”
