Norfolk Southern Donates $25K To Ohio County Flood Relief

To assist with flood recovery efforts, Norfolk Southern announced Wednesday that it has donated $25,000 to the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, which will support the Foundation’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund. The fund provides direct assistance to nonprofits that are active in disaster response and recovery and that support individuals impacted by the disaster.

The $25,000 from Norfolk Southern matches the $25,000 each donated by WesBanco and the Paisley Foundation to start the fund.

The CFOV will use resources from the fund to partner with nonprofit organizations like the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, Catholic Charities, and the House of the Carpenter, according to a release from Norfolk Southern.

“This donation shows how much Norfolk Southern cares about the people of West Virginia, and the partnership West Virginia has with Norfolk Southern,” said Delegate Shawn Fluharty, D-Ohio. “They have stepped up to the highest degree.”

“Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this devastating event,” said Kristin Wong, Norfolk Southern Community Impact Director. “We deeply appreciate the tireless efforts of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley and all those working to support the community’s recovery from the flooding.”

The company’s Employee Hardship Fund is designed to support our team members during challenging times — such as natural disasters, medical emergencies, or other qualifying events — ensuring help is available when it’s needed most. The activation will retroactively cover employees impacted by this incident and others.

Starting at $2.99/week.
