Richard Linley Wood, 70, of Masontown, PA, and formerly of West Finley, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Veterans Affair Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

He was born January 6, 1947, in West Finley, PA, son of the late Joseph L. and Yola Elizabeth Miller Wood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Ann Armfield Wood; second wife, Judy Riggle Wood; brothers, Kenneth and Donald Wood; and a grandson, Daniel Joseph Wood.

Mr. Wood was a produce associate with Wal-Mart in St. Clairsville, OH, and a former truck driver with Keen Transport out of Carlisle, PA. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Germany. He was a Baptist by faith. He loved many things: eagles, farming, his farm animals, and driving his truck as he hauled heavy equipment across the country. He was an avid hunter and within the past year became an avid fisherman. Mr. Wood was a member of Faith, Gray, McArdle VFW Post 4584 in Masontown, PA.

He is survived by seven children, Cindy L. Wood and Fiance Dr. James Smith, PhD.; Ronald A. Wood; Fawn A. Sloan (Frank); Angelena “Renee” Appleby (David); Larry L. Wurtzel (Jonie); Rebecca J. Schroyer (Daniel); and Ada “Diane” Nedley (Francis); 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Jane Dye; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and then on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311), with Pastor Aaron Douthitt officiating.

Interment will follow at West Finley Cemetery, West Finley, PA. Moundsville Veteran Honor Guard will conduct military grave side services.
