JEANNETTE ADAMS

Mrs. Jeannette Mae Maruca Adams, 86, passed away at her residence in Winston-Salem, NC on June 6, 2018.

She was born on July 20, 1931 to John B. Maruca and Katherine Sardonell Maruca in Wheeling, WV. She graduated from Wheeling High in 1949 and went on to graduate from Mt. de Chantal in 1952 where she majored in music and piano.

She was employed by the City of Wheeling as the Asst. Recreation Director. She enjoyed participating in all types of church lunches and dinners at New Mt. Vernon UMC, Enterprise Moravian, Bethel UMC, Hope Moravian, Fulp Moravian, and Bethania Moravian.

She enjoyed growing tomatoes in her garden and sharing them with others. She loved to play the piano, often playing for the other residents at Heritage Woods.

Her pride and joy were her two 1966 Chevy II cars. She was a volunteer at the former CAT-TV station in Winston-Salem where she had a show called Jeannette’s World. She was also a carrier for the Winston-Salem Journal, retiring in 1994.

Mom was a very sweet and loving person who enjoyed going to church Bazaars and bake sales where she purchased items for friends and family. She was also known for giving people flowers from Harris Teeter.

In addition to her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Nadion Adams whom she married 9/30/61; brother, Phillip Maruca (Edna); sister, Mrs. Ann Page; brother, Emil Gerald Maruca; brother-in-law, Milton K. Adams, and sister-in-law, Mary Maruca. She was the caregiver for her brother Emil Gerald Maruca who resided with her family from 1962 until his death 5/11/2010. After her husband passed 7/23/12, she assisted with the care for her brother-in-law Milton Kerr Adams until his death 12/11/13.

Surviving are her daughter, Andrea Adams Hefner (Luther Strickland); her brother Richard Maruca and large extended family including nieces and nephews, Gloria Maruca Shoemaker, Linda Maruca Zeik (Terry), Phyllis Maruca Barnhart, Cathy Maruca Porter, John Maruca (Becky), Marsha Maruca Ellis (John) and cousins, Dr. Leon Favede (Betty), and Dorothy Apicella.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 11, 2018 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Winston-Salem with Father Carl Zdancewicz officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek, Winston-Salem. I love you, Mom.
