JOHN “JACK” SCHAUB

John “Jack” Addison Schaub, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Duke University Hospital.

Born in Wheeling, WV, he was the husband of Linda Willard Schaub and the son of the late Charles Schaub and Anna Addison Schaub. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and DeVry Technical College in Chicago and was a United States Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the South Carolina Trapshooters Association, where he was the secretary for over 20 years, was inducted in the SCTA “Hall of Fame”, an avid WV Mountaineer and Notre Dame fan.

Mr. Schaub retired from The Timken Bearing Company and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are two sons, Dr. Mike Schaub and wife, Jill of Fairfax, VA and Brian Schaub and wife, Mandy of Duncan; a daughter, Julie Braun and husband, Michael of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; two sisters, Edna Lou Schaub of Wheeling, WV and Kathleen O’Konski and husband, Douglas of Minneapolis, MN; seven grandchildren, Zachary Braun, Daniel Braun, Joseph Braun, Andrew Schaub, Max Schaub, Kate Schaub and Claire Schaub; two step-sons, Kevin Hammett and wife, Cathy of Gaffney and Casey Hammett and wife, Whitney of Coxs Creek, KY; and four step-grandchildren, Eric Hammett and wife, Mary, Matthew Hammett, Kristin Hammett and Susannah Hammett.

Mr. Schaub was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Johnson; and a brother-in-law, Ray Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Michael McCafferty and Reverend Ron Singleton officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
