Rosemary H. Kirschner
Rosemary H. Kirschner, 92, of Moundsville, WV, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2019.
She was born in Burnsville, WV, on March 8, 1927, daughter of the late Paul R. and Opal D. Hefner.
Rosemary was a graduate of Moundsville High School, class of 1943. Rosemary spent her life in Moundsville until April of 2019 when she moved to Hagerstown, MD
Rosemary was blessed with breathtaking artistic ability. She would see something that was nothing to most of us and end up with a beautiful piece of art. She brought much joy to her family and friends with her paintings on boards, gourds, slates and driftwood. She loved painting Santas and snowmen, each one different, with intricate clothing, background and expressive lifelike faces. She loved sharing her art pieces with everyone and they have become cherished keepsakes throughout the years. For many years she helped host monthly luncheons for members of her graduating class. She used her artistic ability to create a theme for each luncheon with unique table decorations and themed place mats which her husband, Jim, helped design and print. For several years, Rosemary and her friend Bonnie entered a decorated tree in the Christmas Tree Auction at the Moundsville Mound Museum. All were unique and beautifully decorated with their handmade ornaments. Rosemary attended Marshall University. Her career encompassed working at Fostoria Glass, WV State Employment Service, Wheeling Steel and the WVU Extension office. She retired from the Marshall Co. Health Department in 1988. Rosemary was in the Cherokee Hills Garden Club for several years, worked with special needs children and helped start the Marshall Co. Meals on Wheels program.
In addition to her husband of 68 years, James B. Kirschner, Rosemary is survived by her four children, Thomas Kirschner (Carol), Catherine Drummond, Carol Reid (Barry) and Edward Kirschner (Kathy); grandchildren, Jenifer (JP), Lane (Rachel), Colin (Katie) and Evan; great grandchildren, Patrick, Morgan, Jack and Julianna; sister, Colleen “Cokie”; brother, Thomas; and nieces and nephews.
