LAWRENCE CORVI

Lawrence Corvi, 91, of Yorkville, OH, died Friday, January 10, 2020, at Wheeling Hospital.

He was born on September 10, 1928, in Martins Ferry, OH, to the late Ernest and Sarah (Martina) Corvi.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lena (Spong) Corvi; four brothers, Joseph, John, Vince and Tony Corvi and four sisters, Anna Wisneski, Mary Gumiela, Emma Bevilacqua and Virginia Defilippo.

Larry served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, and was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. He was the Mayor of Yorkville from 1963 through the mid 70’s and was a councilman for 15 years. He over saw the Route 7 relocation project, he was involved with the construction of the Schlernitzauer Apartments, he was participated in the establishment of St. Lucy Catholic Church and helped start the EMS Service of Yorkville. Larry was an outstanding athlete. He was most proud of being captain of the undefeated 1946 Yorkville Ductillites Football Team.

Family meant everything to Larry. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by three sons, Ernest (Phyllis) Corvi, Lawrence (Andrea) Corvi and Joseph (Angie) Corvi; a daughter, Marianne (Vince) Bonomo; eight grandchildren, Natalie (Michael) Beckett, Ali (Ben) Bolock, Michael Corvi, Lauren Corvi, Erica (Marc) Logan, Ernest James (Andrea) Corvi, David (Katherine) Corvi and Kristen (Ryan) King and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received to pay tribute to Larry and celebrate his life on Monday, January 13, from 4-8 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH, with a vigil at 4 p.m., with Father William Cross.

Funeral liturgy with Mass will be Tuesday 10 a.m. at St. Lucy Catholic Church, Yorkville, OH.

Burial will follow at Upland Cemetery, Yorkville, OH.
