James William Adams originally from Wellsburg, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020. He was 94 at the time of his death. Jim is preceded in death by his loving wife Loretta Elson Adams, in 2006 after 55 years of marriage. In addition, Jim leaves behind his 3 children, James M. Adams, (Mary Alice) and Nancy E. Tyler, (Edward), both of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Susan A. Putman, (Brian) of Port Charlotte, Florida. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Bradley, Meredith, Mitchell, Mackenzie, and Andrew. He was also an uncle, a brother-in-law, and friend to many more.

Answering his nation’s call, Jim enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps in 1942. After the war, Jim continued to serve his nation for nearly 30 years with military service in the U.S. Army Air Corps and in the U.S. Air Force. Jim was a veteran of WWII (Pacific Ocean Theater), Korea, and Vietnam. Upon his September 1971 retirement from the military, the family remained in Virginia where Jim served as a member of the U.S. Capitol Police until his retirement in July 1987. After retiring from the police, Jim, Loretta, and Susan moved from Virginia to Florida, where he lived until 2007.

Jim loved the Washington Redskins, the Pittsburgh Pirates, history and western movies, puzzles, word finds, good candy, a good cup of coffee, doughnuts and most of all, his family. He was a generous man and he will always be missed and cherished by his family and friends.

A viewing followed by a service, and graveside will be held on Thursday, May 21st at Reasner’s Funeral Home 1515 Charles Street, Wellsburg, West Virginia.
