Roy H. Rogerson, age 91 of Tarentum, PA, formerly of Sherrard, WV died Thursday, June 25, 2020 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

He was born January 16, 1929 in Wheeling, WV, son of the late J. Russell and Lily Fisher Rogerson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Charles Rogerson and a sister Edith Sampson.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, LaVerne Yoho Rogerson; four daughters, Christine (Fred) Fecat of Glen Dale, WV, Marsha (Mark) Doak of Beverly, WV; LaVon Rogerson of Tarentum and Susan (Karl) Saltrick of Tarentum; one sister, Jean (Ron) Kasserman of Decatur, AL; seven grandchildren, Eric (Julie) Fecat of Moundsville, WV, Justin Doak of Houston, TX, Josh (Jennifer) Doak of Pittsburgh, PA, Travis Doak of Morgantown, WV, Chelsea McLaughlin of Weston, WV, Adam Moore (Lindsay Short) of Jane Lew, WV and Brett Saltrick of Pittsburgh, PA; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Roy graduated from Linsly Institute and West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. He was active in Limestone Presbyterian Church; Leader of Fairview Achievers 4-H Club and Marshall County Extension Committee. He was a Developmental Project Supervisor at the PPG Natrium Plant in WV. He served in the WV House of Delegates (1967-1972) and then became a WV State Senator (1973-1976) where he was a Senate Minority Leader. In 1982, he and his wife relocated to Pittsburgh, PA where he continued his career with PPG.

Roy served his Marshall County community through his church and love of 4-H. He was kind and gentle in nature and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A private service will be held at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 1 Ridgecrest Road, Bethlehem/Wheeling.

Entombment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard.
