Ruth Wagner Corey, 88, of Wheeling passed away on Tuesday, June 30 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

She was born on July 14, 1931 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, daughter of the late Norman and Gertrude Mayhew Kelpe.

In 1959, she moved to the Ohio Valley from St. Louis, Missouri. She was a retired Vice President of Mortgage Loans from United National Bank. After more than 30 years in the banking industry, she then became a licensed real estate agent in 1995.

She was involved in many community organizations including the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley where she was the former Executive Director then became a board member, a member of the Leaf Twig, OVMC Auxiliary, member of the OVMC Auxiliary Board where she was a former Treasurer, member of the Wheeling Symphony Auxiliary, member of the Viennese Ball Committee where she was a retired Chairperson. She was very involved with the Oglebay Institute, Victorian Wheeling Society, Friends of Wheeling and the Torch Club International.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marc R. Mangus, second husband, Wesley Hames Wagner and third husband, John Corey; brother, Paul N. Kelpe and son, D. Jeffrey Mangus.

She is survived by 2 sons, M. Randall (Brenda) Mangus of Elm Grove and Tim Mangus of Phoenix, AZ 3 step-children, Leslie Wagner Hanson, Jay Corey and Lisa Corey Pow; 6 grandchildren and 7 great – grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at 10 AM followed by a memorial service at 11 AM at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV (304-232-2732) with Ken Morgan officiating. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley for the Wes Wagner Art Scholarship at Bethany College, Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling, WV 26003 and Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150 Rayland, OH 43943.
