Paul Cisar, 90, of McMechen, WV, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020, in Liza’s Place, Valley Hospice Care Center South, Wheeling, WV.

Paul was born July 9, 1930, in McMechen, a son of the late Karol and Bertha (Oravec) Cisar. He was a retired electrician for Bayer Chemical Corp.; a former employee of the B&O Railroad, Benwood; a member of St. James Catholic Church, McMechen; and an avid baseball fan.

Paul was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran and a member of the American Legion Post No. 5, McMechen. He has also been a member of the V.F.W. since 1952. Originally as a member of Post No. 3655, McMechen, and then a member of Post No. 437, Moundsville.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Regent (Minter) Cisar, in 2002; 3 brothers, twin Peter Cisar, and William & Charles Cisar; and two sisters, Pauline Calvert and Ethel Hosso. He is survived by his daughter, Regent (Mike) Lawther of Glen Dale, WV; two step-grandsons, Andrew E. Lawther of Texas and Ryan Lawther of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and a great-granddaughter, Ella Kate Lawther; a sister-in-law, Lucille Cisar; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 9:30 am until 11:30 am, Wednesday, September 23, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen. Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at Noon, at St. James Catholic Church, with Rev. Harry Dunn as celebrant. Interment will follow in West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, PA, with full military honors provided by the Moundsville Veteran’s Honor Guard.
