BETTY LOU HICKEY

Betty Lou Hickey, 81, resident of Marshall County, WV, died Saturday, October 24, 2020 at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Marshall County, WV, daughter of the late Hubert and Virginia Caldwell Merinar. Betty Lou was a graduate of Sherrard High School and was a member of Sand Hill Methodist Church. She was Director Emeritus of the All American Rose Selection Public Rose Garden, located at The Palace of Gold in Marshall County. She was a WV Certified Master Gardner in Marshall County, WV, a member of the Sand Hill Community Education Outreach Service (CEOS), and with the help of her son she operated the Pumpkin Patch.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Hickey in 2008; two brothers, Robert L. Merinar and Stanley Merinar.

Surviving Betty Lou is her son, Glenn M. Hickey; two daughters, Sandra L. Hickey, DVM and her companion, Kate, and Susan M. McGee and her husband, Jim; four grandchildren, Eric Hickey and his wife, Gina, Rebecca Mendenhall and her husband, Ryan, and their child, Piper Mendenhall, Elizabeth McGee and James G. McGee, III; one brother, Calvin Merinar.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 10 am at the Sand Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Lisa Fox officiating. Interment will be held in Sand Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-242-2311).
