David L. Whipkey, age 84 of Moundsville, WV died Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
He was born November 15, 1935 in Glen Dale, WV the son of the late Clyde and Wilma Schane Whipkey.
He was a US Army National Guard Veteran; a retired employee from Allied and Olin Chemicals; a member of Simpson United Methodist Church, where he was the former Head of Administrative Council; a member of Knights of Pythias; an avid bicyclist with WV Bike Group; and he loved to travel to Florida and to his farm on Nauvoo Ridge; and fish.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jo Harler, and LaRene West.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carol McIlvain Whipkey; a son, Matt (Karen) Whipkey of Bridgeport, WV; a daughter, Ann (Woody) Yoder of Moundsville; four grandchildren, Justin Whipkey, Jessica (Ron Kramer, Esq.) Whipkey, MD, Sarabeth (Logan) Hartle, and Emily (Chris) Shuman; a great-grandchild, Cambrie Leigh Kramer; a great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Jean Pickett of Wooster, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Hess for his care and dedication.
Family requests that masks be worn as they receive friends on Sunday from 12noon until time of Funeral Service and Knights of Pythias Service at 2pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville with Rev. Bill Calhoun and Pastor Annette Carper officiating.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville where the Moundsville Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Services.
